The Madawaska Valley Association for Community Living (MVACL) welcomed families, community partners, and local supporters to its annual Community Connections Open House this week, celebrating the organization's ongoing commitment to helping people with developmental disabilities live, work, and participate fully in their communities. The event featured tours of several program spaces, interactive displays, and opportunities for visitors to meet staff, volunteers, and participants.

Executive Director Jane Smith thanked the many volunteers, donors, and local businesses whose continued support makes many of MVACL's programs possible. She noted that community partnerships have helped expand employment opportunities, recreational activities, and life-skills programming, giving participants greater independence and more opportunities to contribute to the region.

Guests enjoyed demonstrations of creative arts projects, learned about supported employment initiatives, and heard firsthand stories from individuals whose lives have been positively impacted by the organization's services. Families also had the opportunity to connect with staff members to learn about available supports and future programming planned for the coming year.

The open house concluded with refreshments and a celebration recognizing volunteers who have dedicated many years of service to the organization. Organizers described the event as another successful step toward building a more inclusive Madawaska Valley, while encouraging residents to continue supporting programs that strengthen opportunities for people of all abilities.
